 THE CAMP.  Episode 18-21.

Not everyone are redeemable.

Somethings are meant to be regardless of your effort. 

One must apply wisdom  when saving a drowning person, if not, both might end up lying lifeless below the water.

I couldn't help Yetunde out of her ways, I guess nature had its way and it was meant to be like that.

I was sad.

I tried her numbers but she didn't pick, I guess she was drowning in her own pain.

I literally lost interest in everything but Ben was a good friend that came through, he knew the bond between I and Yetunde was strong despite our little fight and sexual urges she didn't hide from anyone. Britney on the other side had found her confidence back into Ben's  arm and i didn't want to cut short the moments they were enjoying so I distanced myself from them and became a lone being in the camp of 3,000 plus corp members.

The drama and dance night came through and I was meant to perform on both, the initial motivation wasn't there, I was down in my spirit. It was obvious to everyone in the platoon, I was to take part of the lead role in the drama and also a front liner in the dance, how could I do this without messing everything up. 

People kept coming and trying to elate my spirit, I tried but it wasn't working. 

I was putting on my costume, I was going to perform regardless. Britney showed up and help my hands. She looked into my eyes and drew me closer. She gave me an affectionate hug that could burn a mountainous worries.

"I know your mind is full of regrets because you couldn't help our friend but trust me you tried but it is what it is, people are waiting out there to see your talent tonight, they have seen you rehearse, they have seen you in action, they love you because of your sense of humour,  creativity and talent go out there to show them what you are made of, you can do it please."

She drew me closer and tried to plant a kiss on my lips, I revolted, she looked deep into my eyes, she spoke to my soul, like an illusion, trance or scary imaginations, she came for it again and I took it deep. 

We kissed. 

Her lips were angelic. 

Soft of and endearing to the touch of my lips.

Just like the salt blends beneath the depth of an ocean. Just like an iceberg comfortably settles amidst the waving sea.

My heart slowly beat and I could see my pain evaporating.

It got intense.

She held my head and went more deep, my hands on her wide girdles as she buried her body in mine.

The climax descended unanimously. 

We broke up and I heaved a deep breathe. 

"But Ben...." I said and she hushed me.

"Shhhhhhh.....now go out there and make me proud, we'll talk about that when you are off the stage" she said.

She helped with the beads on my neck and I went out with another loving personality. The drama started and I gave it my best. It was a beautiful performance. 

I was applauded. 

The dance also went well.

I didn't know what Britney did to me, but whatever she did worked and I loved it.

After the night, I met with Britney to ask her about her actions when she and Ben were already getting along.

She smiled.

"Ben has no place in my heart anymore,  do you remember the social night that you and Yetunde left us? He tried talking me into it and I told him that it's not gonna work again because I was into you already, and we can only be friends but Yetunde was taking a big part of you,  I told him we could be friends and he accepted"

"Really? Why?"

"See, Ade, Ben knows me very well, it's either we are friends or nothing, and aside that, I already got him a girlfriend, they are getting along already and I can see he is happy with her" she said

I was surprised alot has happened and I didn't know.

"Now that Yetundeis gone, I can have you to myself and myself alone, don't worry, I won't lure you into sex, I just want to be around you always"  she said and hugged me.

The night went by and it was light out time, the rush was not as much as before because the camp was already going to an end.

I went to my hostel and a message came from Yetunde.

"Hello Ade,  I am sorry to disappoint you despite your care and attention but it is what it is, only God knows and sees the truth, be careful of Ben, I wasn't sent out of camp on false allegation, I didn't have sex with the guy, Ade trust me, we didn't have sex because I knew that would be what everyone would  be saying, I can't stay long on phone,  I'll call you when I can....again, I'm sorry Ade...I am so sorry"

I read the message and my heart started beating fast.

I dialed her number immediately but switched off.

I was petrified.

THE CAMP.  Episode 19.

What could have happened to Yetunde? Why is she warning me against Ben? Alot of questions ruminate in my minds and almost stole my sleep.

I was sad because I couldn't figure out anything.

I slept on that thought and the following morning at the parade ground, during the morning drill, I looked for Ben and stood beside him, I needed to know what went wrong that night and I needed to know why Yetunde was warning me against him.

"Hey man, you good?" He said and I nodded.

He noticed my expression and asked further. 

"You don't look good,  are you okay? Have you seen your babe?" He asked and I looked at him confusingly. 

"My babe? Who?" I quizzed. 

"I mean Britney, have you seen her this morning?" He asked then that got me wondering how he knew about I and Britney. Is Britney feeding him back? 

The kiss happened last night, how come he knew something had started between us this morning. I didn't say anything on that.

"I want to ask you a question Ben, how did you know Yetunde was sent off the camp because of sex scandal?" I asked.

"What kind of question is that now, you were there when I sent my guy to help me check na and he confirmed it, see that girl is a wayward girl" he said as he pushes up his pressups. 

"I am just asking how did you know she was sent off  because of sex " i asked and he stood up.

"Ade, If that wasn't the reason, wouldn't she be here by now?" He said and walked away. Few minutes later, Britney showed up and came to kiss me on my cheek.

"Hey babe, I've been looking for you, did you sleep well?" She asked.

"Yes I did, what about you?" 

"Ofcourse I did, thanks to the heartfelt kiss from you, I slept off feeling happy, at last Ade is mine" she said excitingly as she curled herself around me.

"Did you tell Ben about us?" I asked.

"No I didn't but he knows" 

"How?"

"Because he was the one that told me you were in the tent and I should come and gear you up because you were not happy because Yetunde had left, I actually ranted about how Yetunde made you fade away from me and how I wish she wasn't here in the first place, so when Yetunde eventually left, he encouraged me to push further and here we are" she explained.

I tried to put dots together but there was one more person I needed to see. 

"What happened? Are you mad he knows?" She asked.

"Not at all, just wanna know"

I told Britney I would se her around, I left her and went to platoon 10 to look for the guy Ben sent to go and spy on what Yetunde and the guy went to do.

I sighted him and before I got to him  Ben had gotten to him and they started talking. I watched them from afar as they spoke and both nodding in affirmation. 

Something was fishing and I needed to know what was going on.

After drilling, we went back to the hostel and i sent a message to Yetunde. 

"Please tell me what is going on, if you were not sent out of the camp because of sex scandal then why were you sent out of the camp?" 

I expected response but none came through. I couldn't go and meet Ben's friend because it could jeopardise the whole plan so I laid low.

Three days went by, it was 2 days to pass out from the camp, I was at my skill acquisition and entrepreneurs development program (SAED) that morning, I was already looking forward to leave the camp because it was exhausting already.

The thought of Yetunde had already left my mind,  I was more closer to Britney and Ben was just a guy we couldn't help but vibe because there was nothing to hold on to and if at all I'll get any thing out of him, Yetunde should be the one to give me a hint but she wasn't replying her messages.

I was at my SAED stand learning bead making when, I was engrossed in setting the beads into the strand to make the design in front of me when I heard someone called my name.

I knew the voice. 

I froze immediately. 

I turned and the bead I had used hours to strand unconsciously dropped from my hand.

Alas! Here comes Yetunde standing there smiling at me.

 THE CAMP.  Episode 20

Yetunde stared at me.

I didn't know what to say, I walked towards her and held her hand. 

"Are you okay? What happened to you?" I asked.

I was speechless.

She looked pale and dehydrated.

"I'll see you later in the evening Ade, I need to sort somethings" she said and left.

After my SAED program, I went back to the hostel and Ben came to my space to sit with me, I couldn't help but ask about what really happened that night.

"Ben, you've been a great guy and I don't want that to be ruined few days to the end of this camp, please tell me what really happened the night we saw Yetunde at mammy market" I quizzed. 

He heaved a breathe. 

"My guy I won't lie to you, I don't know what happened because the guy that went to check for me just told me that she saw Yetunde, the soldier guy and the corp member discussing and nothing else" he said.

I was surprised.

"What later happened that night after I left?" I asked.

"When it was light out,  I saw Yetunde and the soldier guy heading to the administrative office and I ran after her to ask what happened, she told me she would be out of camp the following morning, I asked why but she didn't tell me..." he said and paused. 

I looked into his eyes.

"Continue Ben, please continue" I said because I wanted to get the reason  why Yetunde said I should be careful of him.

He continued. 

"I asked if she was caught having sex and she looked at me owlishly, she didn't say anything, I asked if you knew about what's going on and she kept quiet  I told her I would tell you she was out of the camp because of sex and she stopped and yelled at me and i realised she wasn't in her right state of mind, she looked drunk and intoxicated, her legs tottered. But to be serious, why would she be sent out of camp if not because of that?" He asked.

"Ben why? Why? What has she done to deserve this from you? You didn't even know what happened to her and you told me that fat lie? You are a monster, I hate you for that, you really messed up nigga, you messed up..."  he Interrupted. 

"Oh, you are quick to judge now? Should I tell you? The social night you came to me and left her with Britney, do you know what she told Britney about you and I? Britney told me everything when both of you were away, you think she didn't speak ill of you too? See if I have the chance to get her implicated I will, don't come and be accusing me here " he exclaimed.

My bones went soft.

"What did she tell Britney? What did Britney tell you?" I asked.

"She told Britney that she is just using you to keep her sanity intact and you are not even in her league,  she just want to use you for her sexual urges and dump you because she won't see you again after camp, and as for me, Britney shouldn't give me any chance because men are scum and if she gives me another chance I would still break her heart. That was after Britney told her everything that happened between us. She made me lose her forever. Ade, that girl didn't have any good intention for both of us, she is a parasite that just want to spoil everything before leaving,  she already spoil some, do you know her plan for you?" He exclaimed.

I was confused because I couldn't wrap my head round what he just explained. 

He continued. 

"You don't have to believe me, that lady is crazy, she is a devil, I have said mine." He said and left.

I was bemused and confused.

What is really going on, I didn't plan having this kind of headache towards the end of the camp. I lost interest in everything even in Britney, I just wanna pass out of camp and leave people with their miseries.

I didn't see Yetunde throughout that day.

The following morning during morning drill she came to me and the first thing I asked what why did she leave the camp and she shouldn't even try to lie.

She was shocked.

"Ade, give me a break, is this how you'll  welcome a friend you haven't seen for a while?" She said.

"You mean a friend that is nothing to you? A friend you just want to use to satisfy your sexual urge and dump after camp uhn? Tell me, I know your games and I know you are just looking at me as a sex toy, I am no body to you, not even your friend" I exclaimed. 

She gave a sarcastic smile.

"Oh wow! I can see you have gotten more closer to Britney when I left for her to have spilled out everything we discussed,  I thought she has a stomach to keep words, I didn't know she's another leaking pipe, all these ajebo girls sha, well,  now you know and I don't think you need me around anymore since I have been painted as a black sheep, I'll just walk away and never thought of knowing you" she said and walked away.

I followed her and held her back.

"Not until you tell me what I asked." I said angrily.

She chuckled.

'Never mind Ade, the good thing is I am back " she said and left.

It was the end of the morning drill, Britney came and held my hand, I snapped off from her.

"Not now please" I said and walked away to my hostel.

After taking my bathe,  I was about having a nap when Ben tapped me.

"Guy, I have respected you and also make sure I honour you despite the fact that I know that my babe is into you, please don't treat her like you did this morning again,  do you know how it feels to lose someone you love to someone else? If you can't love her please leave her and stick to the drug addict that was sent to rehab and later brought back,  don't ever make Britney cry again the way you made her cry today, I won't smile at you on that" he said angrily and walked briskly to his space.

What is this one saying?

Wait? 

Yetunde was taken to rehab? 

Oh, she was not caught having sex? 

She was caught taking drugs.?

Oh my God!

THE CAMP. Episode 21.

"Rehab?"

Who spend days in rehab and and comes back to camp, in as much as I am not familiar to how they operate in rehab, I know that it's not somewhere that you can stroll in and out like that.

Is it that Ben is trying to blackmail Yetunde with drug or he is just trying to make me hate her because she tarnished his image infront of Britney. I couldnt wrap my head around the whole thing. 

On the other hand, I thought of apologising to Britney because of my action, she didn't know what she has done. I texted her and apologised. She didn't respond.

Anyways, I wasn't expecting any.

The night crawled out and as usual,  we met at the parade ground the following morning. No one spoke a word to the other, after the exercise, I headed to the hostel when Yetunde ran after me.

"Ade, I need to have a word with you" she said and she started panting. 

"Yetunde, I am not in the mood for any drama right now please, I just want to be alone" I said and walked forward.

"Why do you trust Ben over me Ade? Why do you think he is right and I am the villain her,  I got closer to you because I see you as a mature and understanding guy, how come you fall easily under his deceit and lies" she exclaimed.

Tears formed in her eyes.

I stopped and turned.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

She pulled my hand and we headed back to an isolated part of the pavilion. We sat somewhere there. 

She sobbed and tears dropped profusely. 

"Why didn't you tell me that Britney didn't tell you anything, it was Ben that told you what you accused me of, it was true I told Britney that Ben is just a player and I just wanted to use you sexually and dump you, I didn't know she went to tell Ben and Ben would tell you too, I am sorry I said that but Ben isn't a guy you can trust too, he is a green snake under the green grass" 

I was confused.

"What are you talking about?"

"Ben was just trying to get at me because of what he did too" she said.

"What did he do and before you answer that, were you sent to rehab because you took drug?" I asked.

She looked at me owlishly. 

"Oh my God! Ben has finished me" she said and placed her hand on her head in regret. 

"What have I done to deserve this from him, why did he have to do this?" She cried.

"I don't have time for this drama Yetunde, I cared for you, I was there for you and made sure you were not alone, I didn't know all these about you and you think I will be happy about it? You really disappoint me, how could you engage yourself in drugs to the extent that you were taken out of the camp because of it, I thought you won't be coming back, you left me wallowing in guilt not knowing it was what you brought on yourself" I ranted.

Throughout my rant, she cried.

"I'm sorry Ade, let me explain please"

"What do you want to explain that will justify your action? What?"

"I know but you deserve to know, I will tell you regardless even if after this time you won't talk to me again, but trust me, I have stopped it but you need to know why" she said calmly.

The tears on her cheeks got me emotional, she was a lady I like so much, seeing her crying already weakened me but I needed to stay hard for her to see my displeasure in her actions. 

She continued. 

"I am a sexually active lady, a little touch gets me down especially from a guy I am so much in love with,  when I was with my guy, we had sex almost everyday and if not sex, we would be in a romantic state, in his car, office, home, anywhere, he didn't deprive me of it when I needed it and I got used to it. When he died, I couldn't withstand the pain so I ventured into drug to lay of the urge off me and it worked. It wasn't something I was proud of doing, I didn't do drugs when we were moving together because the touches and random kisses from you was enough to hold me until we parted, I wasn't attracted to any other guy in the camp and my urges were approaching climax so I met with some guys..." she said and I interrupted. 

"...the same guys you went to mammy Market with that night Ben and I saw you?"

"Yes, I didn't even know you were there, we informed a soldier guy, he was the one that helped us bring in the drugs from the seller and gave it to us, he also guarded us so that we won't get caught, after sniffing in and I got high, the soldier and the other guys left. I was on my way to the hostel feeling high when Ben came and that was it, he took me to the hospital and that was all I remembered, I woke up in the hospital outside the camp" she narrated.

I was confused. The story was contradicting one another.

"But why did he first say you were sent home because you had sex with a guy and later came to say you were transfered to a rehab because you took hard drug?" I asked.

"What?! Ben said that, that animal said that?, oh, did he also tell you he took advantage of me before taking me to the hospital?" She asked.

I got confused.

"Wait, what do you mean by he took advantage of you, what does that mean please?" I asked confusingly. 

"Since he lied, I need to let the cat out of the box, when he saw me tottering to the hostel, my bones were feeble, he wrapped his arm around my waist and carried me to the dry cleaner's container after everyone had left and he had sex with me, I was too weak to fight it" she explained. 

"Yetunde are you messing with me right now? Why do you have to say that to clap back at him?" I exclaimed.

"If you think I am lying, ask him how I got out of the camp" she said

My hands started shaking in anger.
