 THE CAMP.  Episode 15-17

The soldier ordered and we obeyed,  if not because of Yetunde, I would have took heel, he can't run faster than me but he might catch her.

He walked closer and flashed his touch light on her faces.

"Wetin you dey do for here when you suppose dey pavilion, una dey gbensh abi?, answer me, Wetin una dey do for here?" He exclaimed.

I didn't know what to say, I started stuttering.  No lie came to my head. He told us to stand up and follow him.

"We are going to the administrative, when you get there, you will go and explain what you were doing in the dark behind the pavilion"

Right there,  millions came to my mind, what I would say, and what I will say we were doing there.  We were about standing when Yetunde started coughing.  She coughed so hard that she started gasping for oxygen like an asthmatic patient.  She held her chest and coughed uncontrollably.  I rushed to her and called her name but she wasn't responding.  

She pulled her white tees and was left on bra only. This beholding sight of her bosoms got the soldier lost.  I tried carrying her but I couldn't, I yelled at him.

"Help me carry her please" instead  he started asking what I have done to her. 

Luckily a female soldier heard our voice and helped out. She yelled at the soldier for not helping. We carried Yetunde to the clinic. The noise in the pavilion and the activities didn't let people know what was going on. Also, there were no corp members around to see what was going on.

She was rushed to the clinic and I was told to stay outside.  They took her inside. The soldier that saw us came with two other soldiers and ordered me to follow them which I did. I was taken to the administration office for questioning.

When I got there, the administrative officer sat me done and asked what happened.  I didn't know what to say but something suddenly tapped into my mind and I let it out.

"We were at the pavilion when she said she couldn't breathe so well that I should escort her down to catch some fresh air which I did, she was coughing and I stayed with her and when we heard that the soldiers were chasing people  I told her that we should go back, we were heading back to the pavilion when he ( pointing at the soldier) saw us, then she started coughing." I explained.

She turned to the officer.

"Is this true? Did you catch them doing anything?"

'No ma, he replied"

"So at what point did she started coughing and what did you do?" She asked. 

"She started coughing when I told them to move and I didn't know what to do until Sarah came by to assist her to the hospital" he explained. 

The administrative officer fury.

"Maina! You couldn't do anything? What if she dies? A corp member was dying and you stood there doing nothing and all you could say is you told them to move, do you want to put the camp commandant and the rest of us in trouble?"

She paused to catch her breathe and continued.

"I want the report on that lady as soon as possible, I want to know what happened to her and I want a thorough examination on her, I want to know if something happened between her and this one ( referring to me)" she exclaimed. 

The soldier and others left, I was about standing when she asked where I was going to, I sat down immediately. 

Almost an hour later, one of the doctor corp member came with a file and handed it over to her.

"That's the lady's file ma, we didn't see anything serious about her, we only noticed some strange fluid in her mouth, she might just be reacting to something she consumed. She's stable now, she also requested to her her friend Ade" the lady explained.

The administrative officer collected the file and heaved a deep breathe of relieve.

"Thank you Jesus,  did you examine her? Do you notice if anything happened between him and her?" She asked.

"No ma, there is no sign of recent penetration into her genitals ma" she replied.

"Okay thank you, You can go and meet your friend and please if you notice anything strange about her, don't hesitate take her to the medical" she said and I told her that I will.

On my way to the clinic I kept wondering what happened to her, what would she have consumed that'll cause such scary cough. I was led to the room she was, she was the only one in the room, immediately she saw me, she jumped up and hugged me.

She shut the door.

I was surprised.

"Yetunde, what happened to you? you scared me, the doctor said you might be reacting to something you ate because they found some fluid in your mouth,  what did you eat?" I asked.

Then she started laughing.

"See you, I didn't eat anything, I faked it because I don't want to be embarrassed or something,  I did what I did to prevent us from trouble,  what yeye fluid is in my mouth if not your pre cum, it worked, at least we are not facing any panel" she whispered and I looked at her in surprise.

"Yetunde! OMG! so it was all fake" I exclaimed and she covered my mouth with her hand.

"Your voice is loud, what would you have me do Ade,  I caused this and I had to do something to bring you out of it, abeg, no blame o" she ranted.

I stared at her in confusion.

"Bro must be brave but should also fear the other gender."

Fear that gender!

THE CAMP. Episode 16.

I looked at her and thought of what could be done to her, she didn't mind, she drew me closer and kissed me, I withdrew from her immediately. 

"Yetunde what is wrong with you, why are you doing this? Don't you think? We were almost caught tonight, do you know what that means? And now you are still making advances at me as if nothing happened. Don't you think? See, I won't let you put me on the spot I was today, I won't, if care is not taken I will stop being with you before you jeopardise my life" I exclaimed.

She drastically went cold.

She slept on the bed and backed me. She didn't say a word, I felt bad immediately,  she was a lady that nothing gets to her, seeing her in that mood makes it look weird. 

"Uhmm...i'm sorry, I shouldn't have gone that far, it's just that you are not seeing it the way I'm seeing it,you play with everything. " I said.

"It's fine, I'm sorry I made you go through all these, it won't happen again, I'm sorry" she said in a low empathetic voice.

"Oh,don't play that mind game with me Yetunde,  you want me to be feeling bad for complaining right? Okay, you win,  I'm sorry, I won't leave you, I'm still your friend but please stop being naughty so that we won't get into trouble." I apologised. 

"I'll tell you something tomorrow after the morning drill, as for now, I'm not in the mood to talk to you, you can go back to the pavilion and join others, go and enjoy your self Ade, good night" she said and closed her eyes.

I didn't bother getting her attention any further because her mood had totally changed. I left the clinic and headed to the pavilion.  It was dark already. Orezi was performing and all corp member were dancing to one me of his hit track "Ribanna"

I looked up at where we were sitted before, I saw Ben and Britney getting along, they danced hand in hand.  I didn't want to Interrupt their beautiful moment. I left them and went to sit with one of my platoon mates. 

It was boring without Yetunde, I missed her.

The beagle for light out blared when it was exactly 10pm meaning all corp members should resume to their hostels,  I headed straight to my hostel to sleep. 

Few minutes later Ben showed up beside my bed.

"I just wanna thank you for today man, you made me a hppy man today, after you left with Yetunde, i and Brit had a long conversation and she said that we should be friends for now which is fine by me, all because you gave me that chance, thank you" he appreiated me and also promized to take care of the following day's meal at mammy market just to appreciate me.

The night went by with the thought of Yetunde in my mind , i couldn't wait to hear what she wanted to tell me.

At the parade ground the following morning, I looked for her and stayed beside her, she didn't say a word to me, she was concentrated in her drilling.

How come the playful, fun to be with and romantic Yethnde suddenly put on another coat and started snubbing me, Alot ran through my mind as I was trying to think if I had said something wrong the previous night. 

I left her and concentrated on my drilling too.  After the drilling,  she came to meet me where I stood. 

" I lost the man I'm supposed to get married to early this year and I ran mad that I was admitted into psychiatric hospital for 3 months because I couldn't stop seeing him or hearing his voice, I see his face in anyone's face so people thought I was going crazy, after I was discharged,  the doctor said that for me to be out of depression and mental instability,  I had to surround myself with people that could make me happy and I should also play more with people that'll keel me lively"

She removed her hankerchief to clean the bubble of tear in her eyes. 

She continued. 

"When I got to the camp, I met a whole lot of guys that wanted us to be together but I wasn't interested,  the story changed when I met you

THE CAMP.  Episode 17

She faced me.

"Have you ever lost someone dear to you? Someone you wake up to see everyday and pray to God that the moment never end, Ade have you?" She asked. 

I stared at her.

She gave a faint smile and continued. 

"If you haven't, pray you don't,  everything I'm doing with you is just to cast my mind out of the pains  of yesterday because if not, I might suddenly run into depression, I just wanted to do crazy things,  see I know you really like Britney but I don't care, I know nothing is gonna come out between you and I that's why I just want to enjoy the moment till camp finishes, we have 5 days to go and I am redeploying to Abuja, we might not see again till the world ends after here, so don't look at me as if I'm a wayward lady, I am just trying to keep myself sane and aside from that I am so attracted to you, you have an awesome personality,  caring and understanding,  I think that's what Britney also saw in you, it's fine if you want to cut ties with me, I won't blame you, thanks for the beautiful moments so far, you are a great guy" she said and walked away.

I stared at her as she beautiful carry her chubby body in a gentle footstep .

Indeed,  we never can tell what people has pass through and what they are doing to keep themselves sane.

I sat on the field with my head down when Amaka, one of my drama crew came and asked what went wrong with me,  I told her nothing,  she sat with me and discussed how our drama would go with me, she stole the moment away from me.

After drilling, I headed to the hostel,  I went to fetch water for bath and saw Ben too, he told me his show was for the night,he also told me he would need me and the ladies there to cheer him up. 

I didn't hear from Britney too  I felt deserted without Yetunde but Bro must not lose focus.

The night was for Mr mancho and others, I didn't see Yetunde,  I called her number but switched off, I called Britney, she picked and said she won't be coming to the pavilion for the show because she was feeling fevery and the medical already knew about it, so no soldier would go and drive her out.

 I was left alone.

I and other guys were cheering Ben up during the program and luckily for him, he won in his category. I was happy for him. After the show,  he said that we should take some bottles to celebrate at mammy market  I and his platoon friends. 

When we got to mammy  everyone took what they love to drink, I asked for malt. I was at the table when Yetunde walked in with some guys and a soldier guy I wanted to call her but I kept my cool.

Bro code 228  " Bro must always be calm to observe"

I watched them from afar as she sat in between them laughing, Ben saw her too,  he didn't say anything. They were drinking and smoking.

Few minutes later, one of the guys stood up and she followed him. A soldier guy followed them too. 

They went toward the laundry section where the launder people do dry cleaning for people, I wanted to stand up to see what was going to happen. Ben pulled me back, he whispered into the ears of one of the guys that was with us and the guy stood up and stalked them.

He came back few minutes later and told us they went into one of the lanuder men's container and we know what that means, the soldier that went with them was to guard the entrance.  

I was pained to the heart, it really got to me that I told Ben I was going to the hostel, I blamed myself for her action, I put the blame on myself for pushing her away when she thought I could handle her madness. Now she has started messing around after I left her.

I went to the hostel with a pained heart.

An hour later, the beagle for light out was blown and I went to sleep. The sleep wasn't sound because I kept  blaming myself and also felt I was too connected to her to see someone else having sex with her.

The next day was our drama and dance competition so I needed enough rest to be able to perform both acts very well. 

The day broke in a twinkle of an eye and we went for drilling as usual. I saw Ben and Britney but Yetunde was no where to be found.  I looked for her everywhere but didn't see her. I asked Ben If he had seen her.

"Why are you looking for her?" He asked.

"I don't know, I just think there is something i need to say to her " I said.

"Well, you can't see her because she was caught last night and was scheduled to be sent home very early this morning before we wake up, I'm sure she'll be out of the camp right now" he said.

I was stunned.

"Are you messing with me right now? I thought a soldier followed them, so how come?"

"I guess he was drunk, he left the post to guard them and went to sleep, another solder caught them, a lady soldier" he examined. 

"How did you know this?" I asked.

"Have you forgotten you left us there yesterday? After the beagle was blown, the soldiers invaded mammy market and we all left, during the invasion,  the solders searched for hideouts and they were caught,  I saw them taking her and the guy to the administrative block and you know what that means"

I was speechless.

"Sorry bro, it is what it is, who knows if you had not left her, you might be the one that would be sent home with her" he said.
